Z-Star Diamond is a three-piece ball with a large rubber core that is soft in the center but gradually becomes firmer towards the perimeter. Srixon describes this as "FastLayer Core," a technology that has been used in the company's premium balls for several years, including Z-Star and Z-Star XV. Z-Star Diamond is a premium ball that fills the gap between Z-Star and Z-Star XV. The FastLayer core on the Diamond is covered by a mantle and a urethane cover.
On the outside, the ball has a new dimple pattern with 338 dimples that create less air resistance, so the ball is less affected by the wind. The urethane cover is slightly thicker than Z-Star's cover and has the same SpinSkin coating. Wedges and short irons grip better on the urethane cover, creating more spin and control on approach shots. A really nice ball to give away as a logo ball.
